Road Trip to Kentucky!

Yes, yes... I know. During a winter where we have a ton of snow, driving 10 hours to Kentucky doesn't seem like the best way to travel, but we did it! And, yes...we hit a snow storm! The storm we hit was going in the same direction we were, so we were continually chasing it's icy streets across Ohio. Had we realized just how bad the roads were, we would have altered our driving plan and stopped just west of PA and stayed overnight there, finishing our drive in the morning. Hindsight! We left our house around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon (I was able to leave work a little early...we did not have Friday off for President's Day weekend as we had in years past...boo!!). We pulled into our hotel parking lot somewhere around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.  It was a long day of travel, but was definitely worth it! We were able to spend two full days visiting with Jill, Andrew, Jackson. Jackson turned 2 the week before, and we were so excited to be able to be there for his birthday celebration! While we were in Kentucky, we were able to see a Disney Live show and got to see the big smiles on our boys' faces when they saw their favorite characters right there in front of them!

The show was in the early afternoon, around our sleepy Ethan's nap time. He did get to see the first half before nodding off on daddy's shoulder!

Side note here: Once we pulled into the parking lot of the hotel the night before, the boys suddenly awoke from their backseat slumber and were wild with excitement in the hotel room. I don't even remember what time we actually got them to fall asleep.

We had a wonderful visit that weekend, and wish it lasted longer! Our drive home wasn't as treacherous as the drive out, but we did run into a stretch of  I-70 in Ohio which was closed down, so we did sit for an hour or so...in Park... until we got to an exit where we could detour. After getting through that stretch, the ride home was smooth. 

We are looking forward to our upcoming Disney trip with Jill, Andrew, Jackson and Mommom and Poppop in three weeks! Can't wait to see our boys play together and for their lit up faces when they see their favorite characters in person!!
