Well, we made it through our last visit, but not without some tears. I couldn't help it.
When we got back for the afternoon, one of the caretakers brought up his snowsuit, boots, hat, and scarf to get him ready to go outside again with us. We kinda chuckled at how much winter gear he had on, since it was between 45-50 degrees out this afternoon. Sure enough, after about 40 minutes outside, we noticed wet hair under that hat. We decided to take him back inside and spend the rest of our time together in our hallway area. We didn't realize it until after we were in, but another family who is adopting was in that area too, so things were extra cramped. They are from Italy, which we found pretty neat! It was funny though hearing Russian, Italian and English all at the same time...we joked with the couple that our kids are going to be confused. :)
We only got to play inside for a little while, and it was mostly distracted by the other play going on, and the constant flow of caretakers up and down the stairs to do their work. But, it was still time with our boy, which we wish we could go back to. Before we knew it, one of his caregivers came up to get him ready to go down to eat, and to say goodbye to us. It all happened so quick. It was really sweet- she told him- in Russian- to kiss mah-muh and pah-puh. Yeah, that's all it took- I was a mess at that point. I just want to keep going back to see him everyday, but that's physically impossible for many reasons...and it honestly is physically draining to be in the car that long each day.
We are just trying to focus on all the things we need to do to get ready for his coming home, to keep our minds off of not being with him anymore. It is REALLY hard, but we know time will fly.
Thank you for all your prayers this week- we have been so blessed! We love our boy, and just can't say that enough! I must say it at least 20x a day!
Please pray that we have a "quick", safe flight home. It will be a long 10 hours, so hopefully we will be able to sleep a few of those away.

PS- yes, our Russian vocabulary has grown over the past week...when I was trying to fall asleep last night, I was trying to see how many words I knew, and I was at 15! lol!

Praise the Lord. You did it! God has taken your hand, and led you in the path your hearts have desired -- Ps. 37 says "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will bring your desires to pass..." And you are seeing that in front of your eyes! You are truly moving ahead in confidence - the hard part is the waiting ... but you are running the race while you wait!
ReplyDeleteChapter 1 is about closed ... but previews of the next chapter are exciting. We are between pages - but God says "Be still, and KNOW that I am God" ... HE will take care of the details (if we let Him ... remember, He wrote the whole book; and we need to let Him perform on the world-stage) ... I am sure your testimony was a Godly one, and the MOE has already noticed. The petition and next steps will be much easier, now that God has been on display!
Be safe. Get some rest - you'll need it because we're gonna expect lots of pictures, updates, and real-life experiences of the week!

Hi its mom ..... i've been praying with you all week, can't wait each day till your blog was updated - Tuesday morning was rough - i thought your computer had taken a walk without you... then by one i was happy to see it updated. I cried all morning, thinking of what you were going through - but happy to know when you get home you have so much to get ready - the room and etc. love you. can't wait to see you.

ReplyDeleteI guess you're on the way home now. I won't lie and say this next part is easy. In fact, it's probably the hardest part of the wait. but, just remember, it will be well worth it in the end! Some advice: Look at your pictures every day; use this time to get the room ready. Now that you've met your Little Man, you can decorate with his personality in mind! I loved that part of my wait. Also, just really stay as busy as you can. Go shopping for clothes for him and for things you may need for Trip 2; create space in your pantry for food items he'll want when he's home--graham crackers, cheerios, etc. . .Install the car seats (which they do not use in Russia) Hopefully, a friend or two will give you a shower!!! Another thing, buy yourself a really nice collapsable umbrella stroller (about $30 or $35 at Target.) You can store this on board the plane on the trip over (doesn't count toward your checked baggage) and you'll really want it for after you have custody of him but before you come home--walking down to Red Square a lot to kill time!! and get pictures. . .We didn't do this ahead of time and had to buy one there 1600 rubles. . .nearly $80 at the time!!
Much much more advice to share, when you want it and need it!!! : )
